Folly Beach and Morris Island Lighthouse

What's Up Snoopy!
Exercise Conducted: Run (Route Distance = 8 miles total)
The Second Part of the Folly Beach experience is on the northeastern part of the island. After the 7.5 mile ride from James Island I set the bike down at the Folly River Park and jogged along East Ashley Ave. all the way to the end where I found one of the coolest parts of the area. The mystique is that the beach and sandbar access is secluded, and the artwork that covers the access road is really fun. Each step has a story to tell and I found myself in the shoes of the artist! My mom likes lighthouses and I can see the Morris Island Lighthouse during the ride in across the salt marshes and inlets so the inspiration comes naturally for this route.

This is a beach community with tourists during the normal tourist seasons. There are no bike lanes but the roads are safe to traverse on bike or on foot. Despite the level elevation, this is not an easy route. The long stretches can be mentally challenging, especially on hot summer days. It is imperative that you prep your mind and body the day prior and have a hydration plan in place before this route. With that said, the beach view at the end of the island looking towards Morris Island Lighthouse is well worth the experience and completing this route would definitely earn you an i.motivate.me t-shirt!

Sincerely,
